May Event Update and Community Day Schedule

Hello, folks! Katie here with another update on our season schedule with a particular focus on our tentative May date. Before we get into it, I would also like to remind everyone that our April event feedback survey closes this Tuesday at 5pm - if you haven’t filled it out yet, please take the chance to do it here! https://forms.gle/1Q5SwGLDDxNZGLBX9

Now, about the May event. Unfortunately, we have to announce that we will not be moving forward with a full day game on May 18th as we originally hoped. Since the beginning, ACO has been committed to delivering the best possible experience at every game we host. Due to some challenging but temporary internal circumstances impacting staffing levels and staff availability, we have made the difficult decision that we do not feel we will be able to deliver a game to our high standards during this timeframe. With Rynne and Rebekah making a move to California in early May (They’ll still be flying out for ACO Events, don’t worry!), Shy unavailable, Valence still coming up to speed, and another staffing change which we will be announcing more details on soon, it’s a simple matter of too much of the team currently being in flux.

The first thing we would like to stress is that our decision regarding the May event will NOT have any impact on the remaining season - we are still on track to host three full weekend events spanning August, September and October. In addition, this does not mean that we are going quiet through the spring and summer; each month until our next event will feature at least one major community event to keep everyone involved! Keep reading if you’d like to hear about those.

First, on May 17, we will be returning to Camp Tumbleson Lake to repeat what is quickly becoming a tradition - participating in the Rotary Club’s Epic Day of Service! You can check out some details on that and register here: https://www.ymcanoco.org/events/epic-day-service. There will also be a quick signup form we put out soon to help us link up with everyone who will be attending on our end. This is an excellent chance to stay involved with our community and help improve the site where we host most of our events; there will also be rewards just like last year of 120 ACO Goblin Stamps, and a Silver Scale which can be used to create LCO magic pick items. Expect another announcement soon dedicated to this event.

Next, keep your calendars clear for May 18! On our original tentative day game date, we will be staging an in-costume takeover of our favorite nerdy venue, Thane’s Table up in Arvada. This will be a free, out of character event (although soft RP is encouraged!) where we get together, support a local business, and have a whale of a good time playing board games, eating delicious food, and enjoying their delightful drink menu (with cocktails and mocktails both featured). Expect more details on this in the same announcement post where we outline information on the Epic Day of Service.

We will be moving into June by reviving an old favorite tradition from the ADL days - on June 14, ACO will be taking a trip to the Larkspur Renaissance Festival! Located about halfway between Denver and Colorado Springs, the Larkspur Faire is a world class celebration of all things Medieval, with a different theme every weekend. The 14th is the opening weekend, and as is tradition, is the faire’s Magical Fantasy weekend! While there won’t be a logistics period associated with this event, we encourage you to bring your characters and plan on spending some time socializing in-character! Our staff team will be providing minor plot context for the event, in addition to fun little quests featuring actual ACO treasure as prizes!

The last major planned community event prior to our season Resuming in August is a big one - Denver Fan Expo! This event will run from July 3-6, and ACO will be representing the whole way through. The team is working hard on securing a booth for this year in the Community zone, and we have plans for an even better experience than last year. Just like last year, we will be co-hosting a large booth with our good friends at Dystopia Rising: Colorado. We are working on a wide array of activities including panels, our famous boffer ring, roving quest NPCs, and many more! If you would like to get involved in the planning process, please contact Katie on discord or send an email to publicity@alliancelarp.co. As soon as we have confirmed our booth space, signups will be out for on-site volunteers, along with far more information.

Here at ACO, we all sincerely thank you for your understanding with our changing schedule, and hope that these events are enough to keep your palette whetted as we keep on rolling through the season! Keep tuned for more updates, and expect these events to be posted properly on the website and discord shortly.

See you soon,

Katie B
